Amethyst Performing Arts Management Announces Exclusive Asian Artistic
Management Agreement with Legendary Conductor Erich Kunzel

Amethyst Performing Arts Management announced today that it has entered into an exclusive agreement to handle all venue booking, travel, shipping and regulatory arrangements for an upcoming Asian tour by Maestro Erich Kunzel, best known as the conductor for the celebrated Cincinnati Pops orchestra and Billboard’s most successful classical crossover recording artist in history.

Maestro Kunzel is a regular guest conductor with orchestras around the world, where he has broken numerous attendance records, including drawing nearly a million people—and the largest viewing audience for a musical event in PBS history--to a Fourth of July concert on the lawn of the United States Capitol in 1996.

Educated at Dartmouth , Harvard and Brown Universities , Maestro Kunzel studied with the great French conductor Pierre Monteux. Invited by Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra Music Director Max Rudolf to join the CSO in 1965 and asked to take over the 8 O’Clock Pops series, Erich Kunzel showed an affinity for "pops" repertoire. By 1970, when Arthur Fiedler invited him to conduct the Boston Pops, Mr. Kunzel’s commitment to Pops was assured.

Among many other awards, Maestro Kunzel has received the 1987 Post-Corbett Award and the 1989 Sony Tiffany Walkman Award for a decade of "visionary recording activities." He was named by the Ohio Arts Council as a special recipient of the 1991 Governor’s Awards for the Arts, and received the 1994 Presidential Medal for Outstanding Leadership and Achievement from Dartmouth College , his alma mater. He has also received honorary doctorates from Northern Kentucky University , The College of Mount St. Joseph and the University of Cincinnati . In 2000, the Ohioana Library Association bestowed its coveted Ohioana Pegasus Award upon him in recognition of his devotion to the musical arts in America and his extraordinary accomplishments in the musical world.
